What is YouTube for Schools?
- Account-based, school-controlled free access to YouTube EDU content, plus regular YouTube content (as approved by the account administrator and school staff)
- YouTube EDU contains thousands of educational videos that are rated by Google/YouTube and the education community
- Regular YouTube features, such as commenting, are removed to increase focus on content
How does YouTube for Schools work?
- After signup, the school is given a unique ID (or code). Signup (via YouTube) is a 10-minute process—call us if you need assistance in signing up (toll-free 866-875-1254)
- The unique ID is used within a special YouTube URL address to access the school’s portal. View an example by visiting Comsift's YouTube portal
- School staff can approve additional YouTube videos, in addition to automatic access to the YouTube EDU library
How does the ComSifter fit in?
- Blocks student access to the rest of the YouTube domain, while allowing the school’s YouTube for Schools portal
- Automatically redirects users to the school’s account when the youtube.com domain is entered in a browser
